Membership in TPDA is limited to members of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), whose official mailing address or designated affiliate is listed as Texas. Membership eligibility is outlined in the ADA Bylaws. ADA members in Texas are automatically members of the Texas Dietetic Association (TDA), with a portion of their ADA dues being rebated to TDA. Web site links to both ADA and TDA are included under Links. TDA maintains an administrative office in Dallas under an association management firm and employs an Executive Director, who can be contacted through the TDA web site or via e-mail at tda@nutrition4texas.org. The state is divided geographically into seventeen (17) district dietetic associations, of which TPDA is one.
Membership, in a district dietetic association, is voluntary and requires payment of dues to that particular district association. TDA members generally join the district that is geographically closest to their residence, but there is no requirement that a member has to join a certain district or a limit to the number of districts he/she may join (as long as dues are paid). In large metropolitan areas like Houston, it is not unusual to find members that reside in one district but work in another; some join the district that is most convenient for meeting times and others choose to join both districts.
