Lorenzo Cohen, PhD & Dr. Beverly Gor, EdD, RD, LD, CDE
Dr. Lorenzo Cohen is a faculty member
at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and is a professor in the
Department of Behavioral Science, Director of the Integrative Medicine
Program, and Chief of the Section of Integrative Medicine in the
Department of General Oncology. Dr. Cohen is a founding member
and past president of the Society for Integrative Oncology and
Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Society for Integrative Oncology.
Dr.
Cohen is currently conducting a number of NIH-funded and non-funded
randomized controlled clinical trials examining the biobehavioral
effects of psychosocial interventions aimed at reducing the negative
aspects of cancer treatment and improving quality of life including
studies of meditation, stress management, emotional writing, yoga, and
tai chi/qigong. He is interested in examining different types of
complementary programs that can be easily incorporated into
conventional treatment to decrease the psychophysiological sequelae
associated with treatment. His research simultaneously assesses
psychological, behavioral and physiological factors in an attempt to
better understand the cancer process. He is principal investigator of a
center grant from the National Cancer Institute to conduct
collaborative research projects with Fudan University Cancer Hospital
in Shanghai, China, that is exploring the use of traditional Chinese
Medicine for cancer. He was the recipient of the 2007
International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award of
Shanghai Municipality and the 2008 Magnolia Memorial Award for his
contributions in furthering research into the use of traditional
Chinese medicine.
Beverly Jean Quan Gor,
EdD, RD, LD,
CDE is Program Director of Community Relations for the Center for
Research on Minority Health (CRMH) in the Department of Health
Disparities Research at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer
Center. She holds a B. S. in Home Economics, the University of Houston;
M.S. in Nutrition and Food Science, Texas Woman’s University; Doctorate
in Education in Allied Health Education and Administration, the
University of Houston and Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Gor, a
registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, is past president
of the Houston Area Dietetic Association. She co-founded the Asian
American Health Coalition of Greater Houston, Inc. Dr. Gor coordinated
the first ever comprehensive health survey for Asian Americans in the
Greater Houston area. Among her awards are: Distinguished Dietitian of
the Houston Area Dietetic Association (2006); Appointee, Health
Disparities Task Force for the State of Texas. She has six
peer-reviewed journals publications.

From the I 45/FM 1960 intersection take 1960 West and
go approximately ½ mile and turn right on Cypress Station.
Continue about ½ mile and turn right onto Hollow Tree Lane. The
